CBD oil is definitely one of the natural wellness alternatives currently in vogue. With CBD shops opening up all over the in the UK, and online stores proliferating, product references are flooding our minds. We're at a loss. Which CBD oil should you choose? Here's our advice.
The importance of choosing the right CBD oil
The CBD oil market is still largely unregulated in the UK , and controls are infrequent. As a result, there is a wide range of quality on sale, from the good to the not-so-good.
in the UK, the only requirement for CBD oil - and hemp-derived products in general - is the content of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the euphoric molecule found in cannabis. THC, in other words, is what gets you high. Any CBD product must contain less than 0.3% THC, otherwise it's not legal in the UK.

Choosing CBD oil based on its extraction process
Which CBD oil to choose based on how it was extracted? Did you know that not all CBD oils are the same, depending on how the cannabidiol was extracted? It's best to opt for a technique that preserves the molecule's qualities.
So cold extraction - the method we use for CBDSol 's cold-pressed CBD oils - seems a good alternative. CBD flowers are first frozen and then crushed under pressure. Cold-pressing enables us to recover all the cannabinoids and terpenes present in a flower. The result is a high-quality full-spectrum oil that requires no additives. It's also a solvent-free process, but results in a lower yield.
Alternatively, CBD can be extracted using supercritical CO2, which enables ultra-precise control of the cannabinoids present in the finished product. This method is also said to be egological, since the C02 is reusable. However, the result is a relatively expensive finished product.
Finally, CBD can be extracted using solvents, but this method is less and less used by quality-conscious manufacturers. In addition to being polluting, this method is harmful to health - but remains the cheapest of all.
Choosing CBD oil based on its concentration
The concentration of a CBD oil is an important parameter to consider when choosing a product. CBD oils generally range from 2.5% to 30% CBD. The stronger the product, the smaller the quantity required. However, high concentration and effectiveness are not always synonymous.
The highest concentrations (20, 25 or 30%) are generally recommended for people with serious health conditions (e.g. cancer). For consumers who just want a relaxing effect, an oil of 2.5% to 10% is sufficient, while to help sleep, an oil of 10 - 20% is preferred.
Choosing the right CBD oil for the right dosage
It's important to know that there is no universal dosage for taking CBD oil. Firstly, the dosage will depend on how your body reacts to the cannabidiol molecule. Secondly, the dosage will depend on the condition you are trying to alleviate.
We generally recommend starting with a light dose of 20 to 30 mg of CBD per day. Divide the doses into 3 parts (morning, noon and evening) with a 5 or 10% oil, to test the effects of CBD oil on your body. You can then increase the doses to 100-300 mg per day, although theoretically there is no maximum dose that should not be exceeded.
Choosing CBD oil based on its composition
What CBD oil should you choose when you see and find everything on sale? It's not so easy to decipher the labels and, above all, to make sure you don't miss any details about the product's composition. First of all, note that a CBD oil is always composed of a neutral vegetable oil base, ideally hemp oil.
Some CBD oil manufacturers then choose to maximize the effectiveness of their broad-spectrum or concentrated product by adding terpenes and/or flavonoids. This step maximizes the oil's effectiveness. Nevertheless, a full-spectrum CBD oil is generally guaranteed to be free of additions.
